The intention of this song is to express someone being in denial of their own actions or feelings. More specifically, it takes the perspective of a friend who feels hurt or betrayed by the person for lying to them, even if they fully believe their own lies. The title of the song originates as half of the phrase, “the left hand knows what the right is doing,” showing that denial is always temporary.
